Switzerland have secured their ticket to the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup after defeating Algeria 2-0 at BC Place.

The Helvets opened the scoring in the 10th minute with Breel Embolo, while Dan Ndoye sealed the victory immediately at the start of the second half.

Algeria had several opportunities to score, but failed to convert the chances created.

With this success, Switzerland records its third consecutive victory in this World Cup, a historic record for the Swiss national team, and in the round of 16 will face the winner of the Colombia-Ghana match.
