The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has demanded the immediate release of detained protesters and the punishment of those who, according to him, have ordered and exercised violence against them during the recent protests.

Speaking in his weekly conversation with citizens on social media, Berisha accused the government and its leaders of using excessive force against protesters. 

Berisha has rejected allegations of violence by protesters against the police, describing some of them as exaggerated or untrue, and has accused the authorities of, as he put it, attempting to fabricate charges against them.

Berisha : The week was characterized by violence, by an inhuman, not to say animalistic, cruelty of Edi Rama, Taulant Balla and their phalanxes against peaceful protesters.
Before Albanians, before the whole world, it was seen how against a group of peaceful protesters, the phalanxes of the narcopolice rushed with brutality and unrestrained fury.
With expired tear gas.
With pepper spray used for bears.
With water cannons.
With kicks in the head.
With stones.
With all means, against girls and boys who had the most maximum violence by throwing eggs and bags of flour at the deputies.
The violence used by the narcopolice against the protesters was the most vindictive, the most primitive violence.
All over the world, politicians have been thrown with eggs, with flour, etc.
There were also shots fired at that entrance during the period when we were there, but no one has undertaken such a wild, brutal operation, kicking protesters who fell to the ground in the head.
