Will he move to Chelsea? Granit Xhaka breaks his silence

Granit Xhaka does not want to be distracted by transfer speculation, stressing that the only thing that matters to him at the moment is the World Cup.

The Switzerland captain led the national team to a 2-0 victory over Algeria in the round of 16, while his name continues to be linked with a possible transfer to Chelsea.

According to talkSPORT, the London club has submitted an initial offer of around 9.3 million euros for the Sunderland midfielder, but the English club's executives have immediately rejected it, considering it far from their expectations.

It is also reported that Sunderland have no intention of entering into negotiations to sell Xhaka and feel no obligation to let him leave this summer.

Chelsea's interest is also linked to coach Xabi Alonso, who wants to work with the Swiss-born Albanian midfielder again. The two worked together successfully at Bayer Leverkusen, where they won the Bundesliga title without losing a single game in 2024.

However, Xhaka himself does not want to talk about his future, leaving this matter to his representatives.

"It's not my job to talk about a possible transfer to Chelsea. That's what my managers are for. I'm only focused on the World Cup," he said.
