Between celebration and protest for resignation, Edi Rama's different

Prime Minister Edi Rama celebrates his 62nd birthday today, on a day that also coincides with the 35th massive protest, where citizens from Albania and the diaspora are expected to gather in Tirana to demand his resignation.

As the Prime Minister celebrates his 62nd birthday, the 35th consecutive protest has been called for tonight, at 7:00 PM, with the main demand for his removal from the post of Prime Minister.

Organizers have announced that the protest will be nationwide, and the participation of Albanians from the diaspora, who have traveled to Tirana to join the rally, is also expected. According to them, the gathering will start at Skanderbeg Square, and then continue with the march towards the Prime Minister's Office building.

In the public call for participation, the organizers have emphasized that the protests will continue until the prime minister resigns, while their message for today's protest is: "The end has come for you."

Thus, July 4th for Edi Rama marks both his 62nd birthday and another confrontation with the protests that have been demanding his removal from the government for more than a month.

Rama, born on July 4, 1964 in Tirana, has led the Socialist Party since 2005 and the Albanian government since 2013. He is also the only prime minister in the history of Albanian pluralism to have won four consecutive terms.

He began his public career as Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports in 1998, while in 2000 he was elected Mayor of Tirana, a position he held until 2011. Two years later, after the Socialist Party's victory in the parliamentary elections, he took over the government.
