Tragic balance sheet in Venezuela/ Nearly 3 thousand dead and over 16 thousand injured

At least 2,954 people have died and 16,592 others have been injured as a result of two powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, according to the latest toll published by the country's transitional government.
Authorities say over 16,000 people have been left homeless, while 856 buildings have been destroyed by the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude tremors, which mainly hit the northern state of La Guaira.
The high number of missing persons also remains worrying. According to an unofficial list, around 38,500 people are still missing. In the first days after the disaster, the number of missing had reached around 60,000.
