Released by court, protester throws egg at police station: This was my weapon

One of the protesters who was released today by a decision of the Tirana Court, Niko Qarkaj, claims that after his arrest at Thursday's protest in front of Parliament, he was raped by police officers at the police station.

He suffers from epilepsy and, according to his lawyer, has suffered several health crises during his time in detention.

Even during Saturday's court session, he had another epileptic seizure, which led to the temporary interruption of the process.

After being released for lack of evidence, Qarkaj was greeted outside Police Station No. 3 by citizens and supporters. In a symbolic gesture, he climbed over the railing of the entrance, took an egg out of his pocket, and declared, "This was my gun," before throwing it into the police station's courtyard.
