IGJEUM warns of increased risk of forest fires, here are the most problematic

The Institute of Geosciences has warned of an increased risk of fires in several areas of the country during Sunday afternoon and Monday, specifically in Fier, Lezha and Durrës as the most exposed regions.

According to the forecast, these three counties will be at a high risk level for forest fires.

Meanwhile, Shkodra, Tirana, Elbasan, Berat, Vlora and Gjirokastra will have moderate risk, while Kukës, Dibra and Korça are expected to be at a low level.

The institute underlines that even in some specific areas of the country the risk may be locally high, including south of Shkodra, west of Tirana, Elbasan and Berat, as well as northwest of Vlora.

Regarding the weather, on Monday maximum temperatures will reach up to 34°C in low-lying areas, 31°C on the coast and 27°C in mountainous areas.

The wind will blow light to moderate, with occasional intensification in mountainous areas and along the coastline.
