Diaspora representative: Rama is seeking immunity in Europe to escape justice

Representatives of Albanians living abroad took the floor at the civic protest in Tirana, expressing support for the protesters' cause.

One of the emigrants stated that the diaspora has joined the protest without personal interests, but to oppose, according to him, corruption and misgovernment. He said that Albanians abroad have been among the main supporters of the country's economy and accused the government of harming the interests of citizens.

In his speech, he also leveled accusations at Prime Minister Edi Rama, claiming that the latter is not leaving office because, according to him, he would face justice.

"We have joined the protest of people who have no other interest than the fight against theft. The diaspora has been the engine of the Albanian economy and will no longer allow the country to be held hostage. The sons of the Albanian language do not forget. Edi Rama is afraid to resign, because he will go straight to prison. He is seeking mercy throughout Europe, he is seeking a post at the UN that will provide him with immunity. This is reality, not fairy tales on podcasts. Therefore, he must resign and take responsibility for what he has done to Albania," he said during the protest.
