"Even the police are with us", protester released after 4 days: They

Albion Nikolli, one of the protesters arrested after Thursday's rally in front of the Parliament, has been released after four days in police custody. Immediately after his release, he rejoined the protest, where he gave a speech to the citizens.

Nikolli stated that during the time he was escorted, police officers had repeatedly told him that they were on the side of the protesters and that they too, according to him, feel unjustified by the system.

According to him, the protesters are not against the constitutional order, but oppose autocracy and demand the return of democracy and the rule of law in the country.

" I want to say that those boys who were arrested are not hooligans. They are not against the law, but against autocracy. They fight for democracy, for the rule of law and for an Albania that is not captured by the mafia or oligarchic interests. We are not heroes, but all of you who have come out every day to protest and have supported us," Nikolli said.

He added that, according to his testimony, even police officers had admitted that they face numerous problems at work.

"They repeated to us several times, from the time they arrested us to the police station, that they are with us. They also feel oppressed by the system. They told us that they are not paid for overtime and that there are abuses even with uniform tenders," Nikolli declared.
