Alimehmeti: Early elections are the solution

The Democratic Party's councilor in the Municipality of Tirana, Ilir Alimehmeti , has stated that holding early elections is the only way to test citizen support after the continuous protests in front of the Prime Minister's Office.

Invited to A2 CNN, Alimehmeti stated that the message of the protest cannot be measured through the analysis of slogans, but only through an electoral process.

"I still think that if they want to prove where we are with this kind of message, what it produced, this cannot be done otherwise than with a pair of elections. We cannot analyze the slogans, the DP has also had slogans in its protests, or any other party.

The demand that unites all the currents in the protest is the resignation of Edi Rama. I saw a banner that was the most significant: "Together until resignation divides us". Edi Rama must leave, in this common denominator all the forces are there, and there is great resistance. They are closer to the objective than the day they started", said Alimehmeti.
