Large fire in Fushë-Shijakut, flames approaching the Tirana-Durrës

A large-scale fire engulfed the Koxhas area, in Fushë-Shijak, on Monday afternoon. Favored by strong winds, the fire spread rapidly, reaching the Tirana-Durres highway.

Due to the danger posed by the flames and dense smoke, the Police have suspended vehicle traffic on this road axis until the situation is neutralized, while calling on drivers to avoid the area and follow the instructions of the authorities.

According to preliminary information, the fire is also threatening a paper factory located near the source of the flames, while authorities continue their efforts to prevent its further spread.

Firefighters from Shijak and Durrës are at the scene, working intensively to bring the flames under control. Two fire engines from Tirana have also been dispatched to help deal with the situation.

So far, there are no reports of injuries, while the causes of the fire remain unclear.
