The Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, Erzen Tola, has resigned from his position, following the recommendations of the Supreme State Audit Office.

According to preliminary data, his dismissal is related to the findings of an audit by the Albanian Supreme Audit Office, which identified problems in the exercise of his function. The report states that Tola has not fully followed the implementation of the Supreme Court's decisions on dismissed employees, and has not guaranteed sufficient controls over fuel expenses, bringing financial consequences for the institution.

Erzen Tola was appointed to this position during the time when the Ministry of Education was headed by Ogerta Manastirliu and continued to hold the position even after the change in the ministry's leadership.

The SAI's recommendation for his removal was made earlier, but according to reports, it has not been implemented so far. The resignation comes after the publication of audit findings by the Supreme State Audit Office.
