Berisha: Rama's regime, the second most destructive dictatorship in the

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has accused the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama of representing, according to him, a "second dictatorship" in Albania, comparing it to the communist period.

Berisha made the statements during a meeting organized by the Department of Politically Persecuted Persons in the Democratic Party on the topic "Crime should not be forgotten."

Berisha focused on figures from the communist regime, also mentioning Prime Minister Rama's father, Kristaq Rama, whom he claimed had signed execution decisions during the communist period.

He cited the case of poet Havzi Nela as an example, stating that his conviction was one of the most serious acts of that period.

"Kristaq Rama was the man who signed the hanging of Havzi Nela, a colossal poet who dedicated his verses to human rights," Berisha declared.

Further, the DP leader brought up other cases of those convicted during communism, claiming that execution decisions were made to terrorize certain areas of the country.

Connecting the communist past with today's political developments, Berisha said that according to him, the same "morality" exists in the way public figures are treated.

He also criticized several decorations and awards given by Albanian institutions, citing the cases of Ergys Agasi and Jurgis Çyrbja, for whom he raised strong political accusations.

"It's the same moral. Today Albania cannot have firing squads, it cannot have internment camps, but on the political level it resembles the Albania of the past," Berisha said.

At the end of his speech, Berisha declared that Albania is experiencing, according to him, a more serious situation than previous periods, accusing the government of the massive departure of Albanians from the country.

"This second dictatorship is in some respects the most destructive regime of the Albanian nation in history," Berisha said, adding that the departure of citizens from Albania is greater than the emigration of Kosovo Albanians during the war.
