Murder of 20-year-old Albanian in Sweden, suspected perpetrator arrested

A 20-year-old man from Kosovo was killed in a shooting in the city of Uppsala, Sweden, on Sunday. The victim has been identified as Gent (Milot) Maksutaj, from the village of Banjë i Istogu.

According to Swedish media, the murder is suspected to have been a planned execution.

Swedish media  reports that the suspected perpetrator rode a bicycle and initially shot the victim. After the 20-year-old fell to the ground, he allegedly approached and shot again.

After the crime, the suspect reportedly fled by train to Stockholm, where he was later arrested by police.

The Swedish prosecution has announced that a person under the age of 18 has been detained in connection with the incident. However, investigators do not rule out the possibility that other people were involved in the murder.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening in the Kvarngärdet area of ​​Uppsala, after police received a report of gunshots at around 9:00 p.m.

Swedish authorities are continuing their investigations to determine the motive for the crime and have not yet confirmed whether the murder is linked to organized crime groups.
