4 billion lek for Kanye, Rama defends the financing: We used the emergency fund

Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted after the controversy over the financing of Kanye West's concert in Tirana, for which the government allocated 4 billion lek (about 4 million euros) from public funds.

In his reaction, Rama justified the decision by stating that the money was used "to avoid embarrassing Albania" in front of the thousands of foreigners who bought tickets for the concert.

"4 million euros at the last minute, to avoid embarrassing Albania, in the eyes of nearly 25 thousand foreigners from 80 countries who have already bought tickets for Kanye West in time," Rama writes on Facebook.

According to the Prime Minister, the event constitutes an opportunity with economic impact, which he claims will bring in no less than 100 million euros in revenue.

"From this concert - in conditions artificially made difficult by the heartless - we estimate no less than 100 million euros in revenue. It is enough to see the explosion of reservations on booking.com," Rama continues.

The Prime Minister went further by attacking critics of this funding, whom he described as "crows and ravens of social channels" and accused them of manipulating public opinion by presenting the concert as an expense to the detriment of other sectors.

"Now the crows and ravens of social channels have rushed with a frenzy of voices, making perverse calculations by unscrupulous manipulators, pretending to lament the plight of the people and even cancer patients, who will be left without medicine as a result of the "private concert", as they devilishly call it. But woe to this people and woe to every sick person, if they were to remain in the clutches of these digital swindlers, supported in this case by the hands of the enemies and ill-wishers of Albania, who relentlessly release poison into social channels through tens of thousands of fake profiles, taking advantage of the thirst for power and the emptiness of the usurpers of the civic protest", writes Rama.
