Monika Kryemadhi in the Criminal Court: The cell phone was seized illegally

During the court hearing, Kryemadhi argued that the seizure of the phone and the collection of data were carried out in violation of the law, as at the time of the search she was exercising her duties as a member of parliament.

According to her, any evidence obtained in violation of legal procedures cannot be used in the judicial process.

"The cell phone was seized illegally. At that time, I was a member of parliament and illegally obtaining evidence makes it unusable," Kryemadhi is reported to have declared before the trial panel.

She stressed that, even though she had informed the National Bureau of Investigation (BKH) agents that the phone was in her possession, they continued with the seizure.

Continuing her argument, Kryemadhi stated that the prosecution should not have searched her apartment due to her status as a member of parliament. According to her, the prosecution was aware that she lived in that apartment and that the search had been conducted in her bedroom, even though the property is registered in Fatime Kryemadhi's name.
