The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, declared from Brussels that during the proceedings of the IDC-CDI General Assembly, he requested the creation of a working group that, according to him, will collect facts and analyze the phenomenon of organized crime and the alleged links of the Albanian government with drug cartels.

In a statement to the media after the end of the assembly, Berisha said that in his speech he focused the discussion on the political situation in Albania, accusing the government of violating democratic standards and the electoral process.

According to him, Albania has turned into a "narco-state", while claiming that criminal groups have a direct influence on the political and economic life of the country.

"In my speech I dwelled extensively on the Albanian narco-state, I brought out only one aspect of this narco-state, the narco-euro. Albania today is the country of overvaluation of the euro. This currency, one of the strongest in the world, has been devalued at an incredible rate of up to 22%.

And this is thanks to the gigantic illegal flow of drug money. So, Albania is today the main exporter of cannabis in Europe. Its drug cartels are the main exporters of cocaine in Europe and other destinations. They have open the ports of Albania, in which not a single kilogram of drugs has been seized for five years.

They administer the drug trafficking lines in Albania, decide on the laws of the country, and the prime minister is in fact their godfather. In my speech, I also had the opportunity to emphasize the protest of the new generation and citizens that took place in Tirana, which is entirely an anti-dictatorial protest.

I also stopped at the 'Albanian File'. If we weigh it against his 523 projects, it shows that he behaved like a sultan of past centuries, considering Albania his fiefdom and giving it to the most dangerous drug cartels, the most valuable areas of the country, to develop with drug money.

Recently, it has removed a large number of them from protected areas, solely in the interests of these cartels.

I can say that my appearance here in this assembly was received with a truly special interest. I requested the creation of a working group within the assembly on organized crime and drug cartels in Albania and around the world.

"And this suggestion of mine was welcomed by its president, Mr. Pastrana. So, I think this trip was valuable and useful for Albania, because the more the world knows the reality of Albania, the more it will talk about a narco-dictator and not about those white clothes of his," Berisha declared.
