70 people with poisoning symptoms in Pristina, 22 hospitalized

The Infectious Diseases Clinic of the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCCK) has announced that over the last four days it has been faced with a high number of patients with symptoms suspected to be related to food poisoning.

According to official data, from July 10 to 13, around 70 people sought medical help after experiencing symptoms such as fever, abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea, which appeared several hours after consuming the food.

Of these, 22 patients have been admitted to the Infectious Diseases Clinic for specialized treatment, while they are under continuous medical supervision.

UCCK announces that all hospitalized cases have been reported to the Health Inspectorate, the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo (NIPHK), and have been registered in the Communicable Disease Surveillance System.

The case comes after suspicions that a number of people were poisoned after consuming sandwiches at one of the "Sach Pizza" chain outlets in Pristina.

Meanwhile, the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina has confirmed that it has initiated investigative actions to clarify the case, while the Kosovo Police has announced that it is acting in coordination with the prosecutor and responsible institutions to determine the possible causes and responsibilities.
