A 40-year-old man was killed on Wednesday evening in the town of Laç after being shot near his apartment.

The victim has been identified as Ilir Gjini, also known by 3 other names. The incident occurred at around 10:10 PM in the Kurbini area.

Gjini was urgently transported to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana, but was unable to survive his injuries and died on the way.

"Around 22:10, in the city of Kurbin, a gunshot was fired at citizen I.Gj alias IL, alias IK, alias I. N, about 40 years old. He was urgently transported to the Trauma Hospital, but lost his life during transportation.

Police services, immediately after receiving the notification, went to the scene and continue intensive checks in the area to locate and capture the perpetrator(s).

Meanwhile, a special investigative group has been established, which, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, is working intensively to capture any evidence that will serve the investigation, with the aim of clarifying and legally documenting the event, as well as identifying and capturing the perpetrator(s) , the police announced.
