VIDEO-scandal in Saranda/ Director of AMP Vlora and officials sexually harass

As the government promotes Albania as a tourist destination and talks about increasing the number of foreign visitors, a video published by lawyer Arben Llangozi has raised questions about the behavior of some state officials towards tourists.

According to Llangoz, the director of the Police Supervision Agency (AMP) in Vlora, Genci Kolgjini, can be heard in the footage using an inappropriate expression towards the two tourists.

He claims that other employees are in the same situation, who, according to him, create an atmosphere with sexist and derogatory comments towards women.

Through his public response, the lawyer demands a response from the Ministry of Interior and the central leaders of the AMP, emphasizing that the lack of an official stance would constitute tolerance of unacceptable behavior.

Denunciation:

Is this the "Police we want"? In the middle of the tourist season, in Saranda, a video scandal exposes shameful institutional behavior: the director of the Vlora AMP, Genci Kolgjini, is heard using the derogatory expression towards tourists: "they please you."

But the scandal does not stop only with the director. In the same situation, other employees present also appear involved in the same climate of vulgar, mocking and harassing behavior towards tourists. This is sexist language and sexual harassment towards women who are simply passing by on the street. AMP, the institution that should control the ethics of the Police, itself appears in the video as an example of arrogance, vulgarity and irresponsibility.

So, who controls the controllers? The Ministry of Interior and the central AMP cannot remain silent. Silence here is a cover-up. Justification is complicity. Tourists are not the object of sexual comments. Women are not the object of ridicule. Saranda is not a place where officials and state employees can behave with street slang and hide behind the post.

Genci Kolgjini and the other employees involved must give public explanations and be held accountable for this video scandal. This is not the “Police we want”. This is the shameful face of the police. Typical scenes like those of the 90s, when some teenagers would sit on street corners and think that harassing girls was bravery, humor or “manliness”. The same old, low and provincial mentality: vulgar language, mockery, whistling, comments behind the back and zero respect for women. A behavior that does not show strength, but a lack of education, a lack of citizenship and a mindset left in the dark streets of a time that should have ended decades ago.
