The Shkodra Court has imposed the security measure "prison arrest" on 64-year-old Shtjefën Ziçi, accused of murdering his wife, 55-year-old Bardhe Ziçi, with a shotgun.

During the court session, the suspect did not give any statement to the jury. On the other hand, the defense attorney, Agim Martini, requested that his client undergo a psychiatric examination to assess his mental state.

The serious crime occurred at noon on July 9 in the area of ​​the eastern ring road of Shkodra. According to preliminary investigations, it all started after an argument between the couple in the grocery store they managed near their apartment.

The prosecution suspects that the conflict was caused by jealousy, after the 64-year-old had asked his wife for her cell phone. After the verbal altercation, he allegedly entered the apartment, took the shotgun, which he possessed with a permit, and shot the woman twice.

According to investigations, the 55-year-old tried to run away to escape the attack, but could not survive her injuries and died on the spot.

The couple were parents of two children. The son lives in Canada, while the daughter is an officer in the Vau Deja military unit.

Investigations to fully uncover the circumstances of the incident continue, while the main motive being verified by investigative bodies remains that of jealousy.
