"I pushed her off the balcony", teenager admits to murdering

An important turning point has occurred in the trial for the murder of 13-year-old Albanian Aurora Tila in Italy.

Her ex-boyfriend, now 17 years old, has admitted for the first time that he was the one who pushed her from the balcony of a building in Piacenza on October 25, 2024, causing her death.

According to Italian media, the teenager, who was only 15 years old at the time of the incident, made the confession during the hearing at the Court of Appeal, abandoning previous claims of innocence.

He appeared via video link from the juvenile institution in Catanzaro, where he is serving a 17-year prison sentence handed down by the first-instance court.

In addition to admitting responsibility, the young man apologized for the crime and for the fact that he had waited so long to admit it.

Meanwhile, the Court of Appeals has requested a report on his behavior while in prison, as, according to reports, other criminal charges have been filed against him.

Lawyer Emilio Malaspina, who represents Aurora Tila's mother, described the confession as the closure of a painful chapter, but requested that the first instance decision remain in effect.

"With this confession, a circle is closed. We hope that the Court will confirm the sentence given in the first instance, which is fair and proportional to the crime ," he declared.
The next hearing in the trial is scheduled for September 10.
