From overstaying a visa to returning after deportation, lawyer: Here's who

Lawyer Saimir Kumrija explained the recent decision by British authorities to sentence those who enter the United Kingdom illegally to up to 5 years in prison.

"In June 2026, new articles were confirmed that introduced penalties for those who enter on a tourist visa, but violate this visa by staying in the United Kingdom. These are punishable by up to 4 years in prison.

Those who have a residence permit, but do not renew it when it expires, risk up to 4 years in prison.

"Those who have been deported and seek to re-enter are subject to a sentence of up to 5 years in prison," the lawyer said in a live broadcast on A2CNN.
