Former Republican Guard officer found dead in Mat River

A 56-year-old man was found dead this Sunday morning in the waters of the Mat River, in the Zenishti area.

The victim has been identified as Flamur Kolmarku, a former officer of the Republic Guard, who had been away from his apartment in Tirana for some time.

According to preliminary information, the body was spotted by residents of the area, who immediately notified the police and emergency services.

Initial checks have not found any signs of violence on the victim's body. Investigators suspect that the 56-year-old died as a result of drowning, while the exact cause will be determined after forensic expertise.
