The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, spoke about the tourism project in the Zvërnec area.

He accused the government of lack of transparency, violation of rules for protected areas, and damage to natural habitats, describing the entire process as an affair with serious consequences for the environment and the public interest.

Secondly, our attitude towards habitats. In 2012, the deadline for the Rinas concession to expire was approaching and we were allowed to build airports in the country.
And the first airport we had planned was the one in Vlora.
We sent a group of specialists, our specialists came back and told us that where the airport used to be, it cannot be built because of the habitats.
They brought the proposal that the airport be built at the Levan bend, they also found unused land that had no production and it was the most suitable place according to them and we completely agreed because this airport also served Berat, it also served Gjirokastra. It served the south as a whole.
They did the same in 2017. They sent the group.
And we of course moved the airport, we decided to build it at the Levan bend.
They sent the group, Lubi Balluku. And the group returned with the same conclusion, except for three servile people who sided with the government.
Everyone else said no, the airport cannot be built there, it is in a protected area, it destroys the flamingo habitat and it cannot be built.
They threw them out and Edi Rama brutally decided to build the airport, where he has dealt a fatal blow to the habitat of the birds, who under the noise and the roar of the planes can no longer stay in that lagoon.
