Berisha: We support the citizen protest for Zvërnec, but the DP is not

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has declared that he unreservedly supports the right of citizens to protest.

Asked by journalists about the DP's stance on the citizens' protest that has been taking place in front of the government building for five days, Berisha emphasized that it is an independent initiative, which was not called or organized by the Democratic Party.

He underlined that the DP fully respects any form of civic protest, adding that free citizens have the right to express their dissatisfaction on any issue they deem necessary. Berisha also made it clear that the Democratic Party has its own agenda of protests and acts independently in organizing them, not getting involved in initiatives that do not belong to it.

Sali Berisha: Our position, we fully support the right of every citizen to protest. Unwaveringly.
Our position, it is a protest that has not been called by the DP and there is no call to support it from the DP.
So we, in the full morality of our stance on protests, have no tendency... so our position is full respect for the protest.
We cannot take any step that could create a debate of any kind.
So we respect... we have emphasized and we emphasize, free citizens have the right to protest for anything they deem reasonable.
The DP has its own agenda of protests, and when it calls for a protest, it is open to all citizens who want to get involved.
In this context, we, I said once again, fully respect the protest.
