SPAK knocks on Igli Tare, former footballer included in Balluku file

The Special Prosecution Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) has indicted former Albanian national football player Igli Tare this Thursday, June 4, 2026.

Sources indicate that Tara has been charged with money laundering in the context of the file related to former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.

The former attacker's summons to SPAK comes after a series of searches conducted on Balluk's family members, as well as several businessmen involved in the investigation. During the operation, investigators also searched two villas located in a residential complex in Drimadhë.

It is learned that SPAK had initially issued a summons for Tara, but it was not executed because the former footballer lives outside Albania and was not notified. Subsequently, prosecutors signed a second summons, ensuring that the notice was served according to legal procedures.

Earlier, his brother, Agron Tare, had also appeared before special prosecutors, while investigators had also requested the questioning of the famous former Albanian national football player.

Belinda Balluku was charged with violating the inequality in the tenders for the Llogara tunnel, while she is also under investigation for the tears of the Great Ring Road. In parallel, SPAK has also launched a property investigation against her.
