Parliament holds a minute of silence for the officer killed in Maliq

The plenary session of the Parliament began this Thursday with a minute of silence in honor of the State Police officer, Enea Mekolli, who lost his life during an operation to capture a wanted person in the Maliqi area.

The deputies stood up in a sign of respect for the 34-year-old, who was killed during the gunfight that took place in the village of Podenë. The serious incident has shocked public opinion and brought reactions from the highest institutions of the country.

Mekolli, part of the "Eagle" force at the Korça Local Police Directorate, was a victim during an operation to arrest a wanted person. Officer Edison Adri was also injured during the incident and is receiving medical treatment.

At the start of the session, the Assembly expressed solidarity with the family of the deceased officer and his colleagues, while parliamentary discussions then continued according to the agenda.
