GJKKO rejects request for live broadcast of session, Meta: People must see the

The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime has rejected the request from the leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, to broadcast the court session.

At its start, the session was being broadcast live by the media, until the moment when the operators were asked to turn off the cameras.

In the courtroom, Meta accused the government of trying to distort the facts, and that the people should see the truth.

"I ask that they reconsider the issue of live broadcasting. We have our own point of view when it comes to this issue. I would ask you to also look at the OSCE ODIHR report, which states that 90% of the media is controlled by the government. I really don't see any reason why this process shouldn't be broadcast live."

"The government is inclined to distort the facts, in this way the people will not have the opportunity to see the truth. I am not asking this question for myself because of the functions I have had, but I am asking it for all the defendants," said Meta.
