Killed in the line of duty, family refuses to bury officer in Martyrs'

State Police officer Enea Mekolli, who lost his life in the line of duty during an operation in Maliq, will be laid to rest in his native village, at the request of his family.

Although the status of "Martyr of the Homeland" provides for burial in the Martyrs' Cemetery, the family has decided that the ceremony will take place near his birthplace, expressing the wish that he be laid to rest next to his brother, also a former police officer.

Tributes in his honor will be held in Pogradec, while the funeral ceremony will be held in the village of Blace, at 2:00 PM.

The family's decision was motivated by a previous tragedy that affected them, making this separation even more painful for the community and his colleagues.
