The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has continued his statements on the murder of police officer Enea Mekolli, raising a number of questions about the way the police operation in which he lost his life was organized. In a press conference, Berisha demanded a detailed investigation into the structures and decision-making within the State Police, questioning the planning and coordination of the intervention.

Berisha also requested verification of possible communications that may have influenced the course of the operation, raising suspicions of poor management of the situation and the possibility of a conspiracy. He called for the matter to be investigated by the Security Committee in the Assembly and by the Prosecutor's Office, describing the event as a poorly organized operation.

Berisha : But his failure to act has another major problem, which must be investigated.
Was his unit the one that should have been sent to arrest or neutralize an armed bandit? An armed criminal?
Or are the other units the ones that are legally required to fulfill this mission?
Was Mekolli's unit equipped with all the means for protection from firearms?
It is very difficult to believe the statements of the police chief, who with them seeks to protect his chair at all costs instead of immediate resignation.
Every statement and every action is made with the approval of the general director of the police.
What was his role in this operation?
How true is it and what type of bulletproof vest did Enea Mekolli have?
These are all questions that the Security Committee in parliament must examine, since here others are in the hands of crime.
I also call on the prosecution to investigate.
But the engagement of the Parliament's Security Committee is necessary.
Such an operation, at the very least, can be said to be poorly organized, poorly planned.
All communications that the murderer had to be thoroughly checked to see if we have a debunking of the operation.
That to mask this, they say that he kept some dogs, that the dogs had informed him that the police would come to surround him.
These raise many doubts.
But I once again express the greatest respect for Enea Mekolli, who fell in the line of duty as a brave man, as a true hero.
I condemn with the greatest force the bloody hand that took his life, but also all those who in one way or another are directly or indirectly implicated in this very serious act.
I invite you to honor the national martyr, Enea Mekolli, with a minute of silence.
