She killed her mother with a knife, the 57-year-old woman in Kurbin is arrested,

Lezha Police have uncovered a serious incident in the village of Fushë-Mamurras, where it was initially reported as a natural death of an 85-year-old woman, but investigations have raised strong suspicions of a crime within the family.

After investigative actions carried out by the special group in cooperation with the Prosecution, it emerged that the elderly woman was suspected of being murdered with a knife, while her daughter, who lived in the same apartment, was arrested as the suspected perpetrator.  

The doctor is also under investigation after she is accused of not reporting the 85-year-old's death to the police.

Announcement: 

The Lezha Local Police Directorate provided operational information that an 85-year-old woman had died in the village of Fushë Mamurras on 30.04.2026, claiming a natural death and without being reported to the Police.
From the information provided by the Police, reasonable suspicions arose of a criminal event.

Based on the information provided, the Lezha Local Police Directorate immediately established a special investigative group, which in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office immediately initiated verification and investigative actions regarding the case. From the entirety of the investigative and procedural actions, it resulted that citizen D. Sh., 85 years old, lost her life as a result of blows with a cutting tool (knife), while the suspected perpetrator of the incident is her daughter, citizen V. Sh., who lived in the same apartment as the victim and suffered from mental health problems.

Following the actions, citizen V. Sh., 57 years old, resident of Fushë-Mamurras, was detained, suspected of being the author of the criminal offense "Murder due to family relations".

The cutting tool (knife) was seized as material evidence, as well as other evidence related to the incident.

Also, procedural materials have been referred to in the free state for citizen A. Ll., a doctor, for the criminal offense of "Abuse of duty", who completed the death certificate, qualifying it as a natural death and not reporting the death of the 85-year-old to the Police.

In cooperation with the Prosecutor, work continues on the complete legal documentation of the event and, if there are other persons involved, on identifying and holding them legally accountable.
