Violand Braçellari, who killed the policeman, is left in prison

The court has set the security measure of "prison arrest" for Violand Braçellari, the suspect in the murder of police officer Enea Mekolli and the injury of his colleague Edison Adri.

The decision was communicated to Braçellari at the Trauma Hospital, where he continues to receive medical treatment after injuries sustained during the police operation to capture him.

"1. Legal validation of the arrest in flagrante delicto of the person under investigation VB, suspected of committing the criminal offenses "Murder of state police officers", "Murder of state police officers" attempted, "Unlicensed possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition" in the form of possession of firearms in public places and "Unlicensed production and possession of hunting and sporting weapons" in the form of possession of hunting weapons and ammunition, provided for by articles 79/b, 79b-22, 278/1 and 280 of the Criminal Code.

2. The assignment to the person under investigation VB of the personal security measure "Arrest in prison" provided for by Article 238 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

3. The Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Korça is responsible for the execution of this decision.

4. An appeal may be filed against this decision at the Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction, within 5 (five) days, starting from the day after the communication of the reasoned decision of the court.

It was announced by the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Korça in the premises of the Tirana University Trauma Hospital, today, 07.06.2026 , the announcement states.
