Kurti declares victory, but LVV does not have the votes to form a government

The leader of the Vetevendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, has declared his party's victory after the publication of preliminary results of the June 7 elections, where LVV is the leading force with around 43% of the votes.

In a short speech in the central square of Pristina, Kurti thanked supporters and said that citizens have confirmed their trust in Vetëvendosje.

What did Kurti say?

"What the state of Kosovo, the Republic of Kosovo, lacks is the Assembly. Unfortunately, the opposition bloc is not working. We are interested in the opposition bloc getting to work as soon as possible. In the coming weeks, we will communicate, meet and talk with all political entities."

Message to the opposition

Kurti took aim at the opposition parties, accusing them of blocking the functioning of the Parliament, while emphasizing that Vetëvendosje remains ready for dialogue and institutional cooperation.

Preliminary results rank the Vetëvendosje Movement as the leading political force in the country, while counting is expected to continue in the coming days and consultations on the formation of new institutions will begin.
