Berisha: We support the protesters' demands without any reservation, Rama

Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha reacted to the citizen protest, clarifying the Democratic Party's position.

Berisha states that the DP has supported the protest and condemned the violence exerted against the protesters in Vlora. The leader of the Democrats emphasizes that he supports without any reservation the five demands of the representatives of the civic movement, underlining that many of them have been opposed for years by the opposition.

He called on Rama to resign and demanded the creation of a caretaker government.

CLARIFICATION

Regarding several media articles and comments about the Democratic Party's stance on the powerful youth and civic protest, I would like to clarify the following:

First: The Democratic Party has stated from the beginning that it condemns with the greatest force the violence and kidnapping of peaceful protesters in Zvërnec, the epithets used by Edi Rama towards them, and the surrounding of the village with barbed wire, as in times of occupation.

Second: This protest was not called by the DP, but we respect it and the right of every citizen to protest. The Democratic Party has never asked its members and supporters not to support it or not to go to the protest, despite several calls orchestrated by the "opposition of the opposition" as a proven tool of the government against us and for its own political agenda. Considering these calls as attempts by the "opposition of the opposition" to politically manipulate the youth and citizen protest in function of its own political agenda, our position was clear: no leaves or branches should prevent us from seeing the magnificent trunk of the protest of the Albanian youth and citizens.

The Democratic Party is the main opposition political force that in recent years has stood strong and paid the highest price in confronting the drug regime of Edi Rama, this Albanian-speaking "Pashiqi" - but also the international supporters of his regime. It managed to decisively prove to Albanians and the world the truth of its cause, through 8 resolutions of the largest political organizations in the world and major reports of the most important international institutions, in which the suppression of the opposition and political pluralism, the electoral farce, the narco-state and the plunder of Albanians by Edi Rama and his criminal organization are unanimously condemned.

Therefore, even after the formulation and public presentation of five demands by representatives of the powerful youth and civic movement, the Democratic Party strongly supports the removal of the illegal and narco-dictatorial regime of Edi Rama, the head of the most dangerous criminal organization in Europe, against whom it organized 8 powerful protests as a peaceful national uprising.

As for the support for the demands of representatives of the powerful youth and civic movement for the annulment of a series of narco-government laws related to strategic investments, the Investment Corporation, Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), the Mountain Package and Gate, the environment and cultural heritage, without any exception, all of them have been opposed with the greatest force by the DP and its parliamentary group in parliamentary committees and sessions, and even, in certain cases, in the courts controlled by the government, and therefore it supports these demands without any reservation.

The Democratic Party has highly appreciated and values the sensitivity and spirit of the protest of young people, citizens and civil society for environmental protection as a great achievement for the nation and Albania, but truthfully adds that it is the largest political force that has denounced and protested more than anyone else against the atrocities committed by government officials and oligarchs in:

Butrint National Park;

Shebenik National Park;

Dajti National Park;

Drini Valley with the Skavica Hydropower Plant;

The construction of Vlora Airport and the de facto destruction of bird habitat in the Narta Lagoon;

Destruction of the Shkumbin, Mat, etc. river beds.

For all of this, she is also proud of the price she paid.

Finally, the Democratic Party is not and will never be against foreign investments in Albania. It has welcomed and will welcome them with the sole and non-negotiable condition that they be made in full compliance with national and international laws.

At this point, the DPA is convinced that the most fundamental cause of the protest lies in the total lack of transparency by Edi Rama in the case of Zvërnec, as in any other case in which he behaves like the sultan of an out-of-date sultanate.

In conclusion: The Democratic Party fully supports the five just demands of the representatives of the powerful youth and civic movement and calls on Edi Rama to abandon the threats, arrogance, contempt and labeling of the protesters. For a single political solution, he must immediately resign, meet the demands of the representatives of the powerful youth and civic movement and establish a caretaker government to prepare for free and fair elections in Albania.
