Berisha: In the EPP I asked for international support for the civic protests,

DP leader Sali Berisha has once again confirmed his support for the civic protest that has been taking place in Tirana for 10 days, against Prime Minister Rama.

In his speech before the parliamentary group, Berisha said that during the European People's Party conference held the day before, he had denounced the government's connection with crime, corruption and electoral farce.

Berisha stated that he had requested international support for the civic protest.

"In my speech, I focused on the autocratic regime or authoritarian dictatorship based on the electoral farce, on the links with crime and grand corruption and the drug cartel. Of course, I devoted special importance, or a special part, to the regime's links with drugs and drug cartels, which has already received international recognition. But the main theme of my speech in Sarajevo was: Albania in the emergency room.

I presented the real situation in Albania, where tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands of citizens have risen up against the regime. They have risen up with just demands: the resignation of Edi Rama and the annulment of those laws that are a flagrant violation of the country's constitutional laws and the main directives of the European Commission on the environment, on cultural heritage, on nature protection.

I denounced with the greatest force Edi Rama's irresponsible attitude towards the protesters and the threats, mockery, insults, and labels that he makes to the most powerful youth, civic protest that the country has known. I asked the leaders of the People's Party and those present to exercise all their authority so that the deep crisis that has gripped the country, which is now in the emergency room, is resolved peacefully: the departure of Edi Rama, the creation of a technical government to prepare new elections. This was my recommendation and there was a lot of interest both during and after the speech about the situation in Albania.

"I sought international support for these protests, assuring the audience and interlocutors that dictators do not make fair decisions. I informed the audience that this protest is not called by the Democratic Party, but is fully supported by the Democratic Party and I explained the reasons, so the demands are very fair and we stand in support of these demands ," Berisha declared.
