50 pharmacists risk their licenses, attended unaccredited training and were left without mandatory credits

50 pharmacists risk their licenses, attended unaccredited training and were left

About 50 pharmacists are at risk of having to take the state exam, after a training they attended at the end of 2025 was not recognized with the promised credits.

The concern was raised on the show Fiks Fare by two pharmacists, who indicated that they participated in a four-day activity organized by the Maya Association, with the expectation of receiving 18 continuing education credits.

According to the rules in force, pharmacists must accumulate 75 credits over a five-year period, while each year they must secure at least 5 credits. The participants in the training state that they have paid about 4400 lek for the activity, but the problem is not related to the payment, but to the fact that the credits have not been reflected in the system even after six months.
They indicate that they have repeatedly requested information from the organizers of the activity, but have not received a clear answer. As a result, the year 2025 results without any credits registered for the participants, which may force them to take the state exam at the end of the five-year cycle.

The Order of Pharmacists also reacted to this issue. Its president, Defrim Goma, stated that the institution is aware of the problem and that many pharmacists have complained in recent days. According to him, a board established under the Ministry of Health has upheld the decision of the Agency for Quality Assurance of Health and Social Care, which did not accredit the activity in question.

Goma stressed that the organizers of the event were aware of this decision and should have informed the participants in a timely manner. He added that such cases bring direct consequences for healthcare professionals, who believe they have fulfilled their obligations, but in the end result without the necessary credits. According to him, the possibility of measures or penalties against the organizing association is also being considered.

On the other hand, the president of the Maya Association, Indrit Seferi, stated that it is not clear why the activity was not evaluated by the relevant agency. He said that he was aware that the activity was evaluated with 2 or 3 points and not zero, while adding that delays in communication from the responsible institutions have created uncertainty for the participants.

Immediately after the interest of Fiks Fare journalists, the participating pharmacists were sent an email from the association, informing them that the activity will be held again. However, this solution does not save them from possible consequences, as the credits that can be earned from the new activity will be calculated for the year 2026 and not for 2025, a period for which they result without credits.
