From Ancona to Albania, cocaine and diamonds are seized at the Port of Durres

An extensive control operation at the Port of Durres has led to the discovery and seizure of a quantity of narcotics suspected of being cocaine, four precious stones suspected of being diamonds, as well as an electronic device for detecting precious metals.

The operation was carried out by Durrës Customs in cooperation with the State Police, during several checks carried out on vehicles that had arrived from Italy.

Announcement: 

Durrës Customs, in cooperation with State Police structures, blocked today during several checks carried out at the Port of Durrës a quantity of narcotics suspected of being cocaine, four precious stones suspected of being diamonds, as well as an electronic device for detecting precious metals.

During the inspection of a vehicle arriving on the Ancona-Durrës ferry, a suitcase containing the detection device and several mountable accessories was found.

During the physical search of a citizen traveling in another vehicle coming from Italy, four transparent packages containing stones similar to diamonds were found. In another vehicle, a suspected quantity of narcotic substance, cocaine, was discovered hidden in a garment placed in the driver's cabin. The cases were referred to the competent structures for further procedural and investigative actions.
