Heroin from the Republic of Macedonia to Albania, 2 people arrested

Two people have been arrested by the Elbasan Police as part of the operation codenamed "Trajectory", after the discovery of a quantity of 1 kilogram of heroin that was suspected of being trafficked from North Macedonia to Albania.

According to the police, LG, 32 years old, resident of Struga, and AB, 45 years old, resident of Durrës, were arrested. Investigations have revealed that the 32-year-old is suspected of having obtained and transported the narcotics from North Macedonia, bringing them into Albanian territory through the green border, while the 45-year-old was waiting for them in Albania with the intention of selling them.

Their arrest took place on the Bulqizë-Librazhd road, where officers stopped the Fiat vehicle they were traveling in. During a thorough search, the police found a backpack hidden in the rear tire of the van, containing 1 kilogram of heroin.

As material evidence, narcotics, a vehicle, two mobile phones, as well as 40 thousand lek, 50 euros and 290 denars were seized.

The procedural materials have been referred to the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office, while investigations continue to fully document the criminal activity and identify other persons involved in this case.
