The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted after the US State Department lifted the measure declaring him "persona non grata", stating that the decision taken against him and his family was unfair and has now been corrected.

In a public statement, Berisha said that after an in-depth review of the case by the State Department, he and his family are no longer deprived of the right to travel to the United States of America.

"Yesterday, an unjust decision by the previous US administration against me and my family was corrected," Berisha said.

He thanked President Donald Trump's administration and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for what he called a correction of an unjust decision. Berisha repeated his accusations that the "non grata" declaration was the result of "corrupt lobbying" by Prime Minister Edi Rama and financier George Soros.

REACTION:

As of yesterday, following a thorough review of my case by the State Department, my family and I are no longer denied the opportunity to travel to the United States of America. So, yesterday, an unfair decision by the previous US administration against me and my family was corrected.

On this occasion, I would like to thank President Trump's administration and Secretary Rubio for correcting this unjust decision, which was based entirely on the corrupt lobbying of Edi Rama and his mentor, George Soros.

I also thank my family, my Albanian and foreign friends, my collaborators, members and supporters of the DP for their invaluable solidarity and support, which they have shown me in my saga for truth and human dignity.

I would like to express special gratitude today to over half a million Albanian citizens who, under the extremely difficult conditions of an electoral autocracy and a narco-regime, voted for me and the Democratic Party.

In conclusion, I invite the members and supporters of the Democratic Party to continue our efforts to restore the free vote and the deserved future of Albanian citizens.
