Ukraine and US resume peace talks, important meeting next week

Ukraine and the United States have resumed work on a peace process, with a key meeting scheduled for next week. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the news during his speech at the European Council summit in Brussels, where he was greeted with applause.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine seeks peace, but not at the cost of surrendering his country. He called for a ceasefire in the air and sea, as well as the release of prisoners of war, as first steps to building trust between the parties.

"Any ceasefire or confidence-building measures should only be a prologue to a just and comprehensive solution that will ensure the end of the war," Zelensky declared.

As part of the upcoming negotiations, a meeting between the Ukrainian delegation and US representatives, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Witkoff and National Security Advisor Waltz, will be held in Riyadh on March 11.

Pressure for minerals agreement

Meanwhile, Donald Trump's envoy for Russia and Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, urged Zelensky to sign the minerals deal, considering it a "de facto security guarantee" that could restore military aid and intelligence cooperation between the US and Ukraine.

Europe invests in defense, Poland seeks arms race with Russia

At the Brussels summit, European leaders pledged further support for Ukraine, presenting the “European Rearmament Plan” and deciding to invest at least 800 billion euros in defense, including the Ukrainian military industry.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stressed the need to accelerate the arms race to weaken Russia, just as happened with the Soviet Union.

"Europe has the power to win any confrontation with Russia. We are stronger," he declared.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called for unity between Europe and the United States, stressing that transatlantic cooperation is essential for global stability.
