Fierce debate with Gjinushi at the Academy of Sciences meeting, Fuga: There is

Academician Artan Fuga spoke about the fierce debate that took place yesterday at the meeting of the Academy of Sciences between him and the president of the Academy, Skënder Gjinushi.

During the discussion on the annual report, Fuga expressed strong criticism, accusing the institution he leads of a lack of transparency and self-criticism.

In an interview with Euronews Albania, Fuga revealed that it is not the first time he has raised his opinion against and has been censored and bullied. According to him, the Academy is abusing public money for activities or projects that it organizes and finances.

"I do not agree that a conference, even on an important issue, should cost 40 million lek, I do not agree that a conference on Eurocodes should cost 5 million old lek, that an academic, who may be very honored, should have 11 projects and most of the projects that are proposed within 1 year are 55 million old lek.

"How can an academician manage 11 projects a year with the budgets received from the academy? I do not agree that a scientific conference costs 19 million lek, the project of a retired academician is financed with 29 million old lek. For me, it is an abuse of public money. I have been facing this censorious and abusive behavior in the academy for years, the proposals I make are not listened to," said Fuga.
