Trump's statements/PDK and LDK: Kosovo must be ready for international

US President Donald Trump's statement on relations between Kosovo and Serbia has stirred up trouble in Pristina.

After the two and a half minutes it took Kosovo MPs to close this attempt to constitute the Kosovo Assembly, opposition parties in Kosovo call on the acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti to reflect and behave responsibly in the face of any geopolitical call or change, emphasizing that "the world is changing every day."

"If at some point, Kosovo accepts an urgent request from the US to have a more proactive approach in relation to a potential agreement between Kosovo and Serbia and 'if we do not have consolidated institutions, this will certainly damage Kosovo's institutions,'" said PDK MP Memli Krasniqi.

Meanwhile, according to Lutfi Haziri from the Democratic League of Kosovo, the American president will have a critical role in the peace process and the completion of Kosovo's state-building, calling for Kosovo to get ready for this.

"The biggest warning is the return to what he calls damage to the peace process. It confirms the LDK's position that the Ohrid Agreement has been harmful. We believe that there will be coordination between the EU and the Trump administration regarding these developments, but above all his role is special, the specific weight of the American position and the role of President Trump in the peace process and in the completion of state building in Kosovo will be critical. So we must get ready," said LDK MP Lutfi Haziri.

For Vetëvendosje, Trump's statement is being "misused by forces within for political reasons."

Trump wrote on Sunday in Truth Social that during his first presidential term, Kosovo and Serbia were “heading for a fierce clash” and a war was about to break out, but added that he stopped it, accusing his successor, former President Joe Biden, of “damaging the long-term perspective with some very senseless decisions, but I will fix it, again.”

In the context of international developments, Kosovo must prove that it is serious about addressing major issues that could forever change the country's future.
