A fire appeared and became quite active at noon near the buildings of the Transmission System Operator in Elbasan.

The area where the fire spread is located near 110 kV, 150 kV, 220 kV and 400 kV high-voltage lines as well as relevant substations that include important equipment and systems for the transmission of electricity in the country.

The circumstances of the fire outbreak are not yet clear, but according to preliminary information, it is suspected that a short circuit in the network may have been the possible cause.

Fortunately, thanks to the intervention of the firefighting forces with special equipment, the flames were isolated and extinguished in time, thus avoiding any damage to substations or transmission lines and to people.

Authorities are investigating further to uncover the exact causes of the incident and to assess the necessary preventive measures in the future.
