 Albania stands by Israel: Iran must stop nuclear activity

Albania has publicly confirmed that it stands by Israel in the battle it has launched in the Middle East.

The declaration was confirmed today by Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani at the meeting held in Tirana with the foreign ministers of the member countries of the South-Eastern European Cooperation Process, known as SEECP.

 The chief diplomat stressed that it is Iran that must stop its nuclear activity and that Tel Aviv has the right to self-defense.

However, Hasani once again emphasizes the laying down of arms.

"Albania reaffirms Israel's right to maintain its security and protect its citizens from threats. At the same time, we call on Iran to cease its nuclear and ballistic missile activities and to act in accordance with its obligations under international law, including the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons."

"The development of nuclear weapons would have catastrophic consequences in the region and beyond. Albania calls on the parties to exercise maximum restraint and engage in diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and find a sustainable political solution ," Hasani added.
