Police have arrested a 35-year-old man who fatally injured a 59-year-old man and then fled the scene.

The 35-year-old was detained after the Lezha Court imposed the measure "prison arrest".

"As a result of the provision of information and cooperation between the Special Operational Force structures at the General Directorate of the State Police and the Lezha DVP services, it became possible to locate in Tirana and detain the perpetrator, citizen TN, 35 years old.

This citizen was declared wanted, after on 29.05.2025, on the "Patoku-Laç Overpass" road axis, he caused an accident resulting in the death of citizen FH, 59 years old, resident of Kurbin, and after the accident he left the scene.

The 35-year-old was detained pursuant to the decision of the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Lezha, which has imposed the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses "Violation of road traffic rules" and "Leaving the scene of an accident".

Also, following the investigations, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, citizen AB, 23 years old, was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offenses of "False declaration before a judicial police officer" and "Acts that impede the discovery of the truth".

His arrest was made after, during the procedural actions, he gave a false statement to the judicial police officer, claiming that he was the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident, while the investigative acts proved that the driver of the vehicle was citizen T. N. , the police announced.
