Israel-Iran War/ Starmer: We are moving our assets and aircraft to the Middle

Britain is deploying assets to the Middle East, including fighter jets, following tensions between Iran and Israel.

This was stated by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, while flying to Canada for the G7 talks, reports the BBC.

"We are moving assets to the region, including fighter jets, and this is for emergency support," Starmer told reporters travelling with him on his plane.

The UK already has RAF fighter jets in the region as part of Operation Shader. Speaking to reporters, Keir Starmer also stressed that the situation was evolving rapidly and that intensive discussions were taking place with allies at all levels.

"The constant message," he said, "is to de-escalate."
