The elected MP of the Democratic Party, Bardh Spahia, spoke this Friday about the investigation of the current mayor of Shkodra, Benet Beci, who is accused of corruption.

Speaking to SYRI TV, Spahia stated that the accusations against Beci have been public and proven to the Albanian public opinion even earlier. 

Spahia says that what is new in this situation is the involvement of state structures, given the fact that the investigation had begun 8 months ago, but SPAK chose to keep it secret in order to serve an electoral campaign that he believes was manipulated.

In this context, Spahia brings to attention other cases that, according to him, prove a system captured by politics, demanding accountability and transparency in the face of Albanian public opinion.

Bardh Spahia: For the sake of truth, the accusations of corruption against Mr. Beci have been public and there is widespread knowledge in the Albanian public opinion about the accusations against him, already proven, of corruption in the various positions he has held.

What is emerging today is another aspect, even sadder: the involvement of state structures, and even worse, law enforcement ones, in covering up the accusations against Mr. Beci, which shows the involvement of state structures, in the specific case of SPAK, in the electoral campaign and their positioning in the state party, that is, the SP.

This was the novelty of this letter made public last night by SYRI TV and Mr. Peka, which has had a strong public impact precisely for confirming the opposition's accusations, for the involvement not only of government structures, law enforcement such as the police but also of justice structures, those that were sworn as independent. Ironically, we have two typical cases, the case of the accusations against the former mayor of Shkodra, that is, against me, which was evident, was politically motivated, so we have information about who was involved and who is the real instigator, the political initiator of the accusations against me, ridiculous against me, because I removed a person with a criminal record, with high state control, to remove him from office for abuses and with the full power that the law gives to the mayor.

But this did not matter to SPAK, it was enough to initiate a procedure, a process that would have its own impact on public opinion, just before the electoral campaign and to continue it during the electoral campaign where I was absurdly summoned for this ridiculous accusation.
