Iran appoints new commanders after Israel kills military leaders

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has appointed new commanders to key military structures, following Israeli airstrikes that killed several senior Iranian military leaders on Friday.

According to CNN International reports, Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour has been appointed as the new commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), replacing Hossein Salami, who lost his life in Israeli attacks.

Also, General Abdulrahim Mousavi has been appointed as the new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, replacing General Mohammad Bagheri, who was also killed earlier on Friday.

Meanwhile, General Ali Sadmani will take over the leadership of the military coordination center, replacing General Gholam Ali Rashid, who was responsible for coordination between the Revolutionary Guard and the regular army.

These moves come at a critical moment for Iran, following heightened tensions with Israel and the severe blow that its elite military structures have received.
