Clashes and tensions at the Order of Psychologists/ Treska refuses to leave

The situation at the Order of Psychologists continues to be tense, while the clash over the institution's leadership deepened further this Thursday. At 1:00 PM, a meeting was scheduled to be held by the old Council of the Order, where the non-recognition of the results of the June 5 elections, which resulted in Brunilda Laboviti winning, would be discussed. But this meeting was opposed by Laboviti herself and her representatives, who are facing the closure of the institution's doors.

It is not yet known whether former president Valbona Treska is inside the Order's premises, while she refuses to recognize the decision of the psychologists' vote. Although without a mandate and dismissed, Treska continues to remain in office, using, according to her opponents, illegal artifice to maintain control of the institution.

Media sources point out that the Police intervened a few days ago to enforce the decision and remove Treska from office, but she refused to leave. Brunilda Laboviti, who emerged victorious in an election process conducted in a regular manner and with the participation of psychologists from all over the country, has not yet been able to take office as the new president.

Two years of tensions and accusations
Clashes at the top of the Order of Psychologists are not new. For nearly two years, a large part of the psychology community has risen up against the leadership of Valbona Treska. The accusations against her include:

unfair and clientelistic employment,
selective distribution of psychologists in institutions,
expensive training related to professional lending,
lack of transparency in the management of funds.
Faced with this situation, psychologists demanded new elections, which were held on June 5. Valbona Treska did not run herself, but supported the candidacy of Elona Mustafaraj, described as her “close friend”. However, Laboviti managed to secure the support of the majority, gaining the trust to lead the institution.

But despite this, the transition of power remains blocked, while legal and institutional clashes have turned into a battle for the legitimacy and direction of the Order of Psychologists.
